The ADSJ Advanced Institute
2017 Advanced Judges Institute
ADSJ is pleased to announce its 2017 Advanced Institute. As the past two institutes met with such success, we will once again be returning to Louisville, KY for the 2017 Advanced Institute.
The Institute will be held in conjunction with the Kentuckiana Cluster of dog shows to be held March 16-19, 2017 at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center.
As in 2015 and 2016, the scope of our program will focus on the breeds in just two groups. The educational format of breed seminars supported by hands-on workshops will remain the same as will the quality and depth of the educational experience.
For 2017 we will be offering 12 Toy and 12 Herding breed presentations.
As initiated in 2015, lodging is no longer included. Registrants may decide for themselves where they wish to stay. Also, lunch will be the only meal provided. Participants will be on their own for breakfast and dinner. These new changes have allowed us to greatly reduce the Institute registration fee. For 2017, the member price for the full program will remain the same as for the 2016 Institute.
In both 2015 and 2016, the classes filled to capacity in a very short time and we were not able to accommodate all of the judges that had hoped to attend the Institute. We know that this was extremely disappointing to those on the waiting list that were denied admission. Therefore, in 2016 we initiated a new policy. Once a class has reached the maximum number of attendees, for those judges on the waiting list, we will offer up to 20 additional judges a chance to register for just the seminar portion of the Institute. These judges will only be allowed to attend the seminar portion of the class and will not be allowed to attend the hands-on workshop. Pursuant to AKC rules and regulations, up to 40 people may attend the seminar. However, the maximum number of participants allowed in a hands-on workshop is only 20. Any more than 20 judges would be just too demanding on the dogs. It is hoped that this new policy will provide a way to further educate any judges that are on the waiting list and were not able to register for the class roster. Please remember that this policy will only be initiated once the initial class is filled to capacity.
With much excitement and enthusiasm, we look forward to our 2017 Advanced Institute. Attendees can expect to gain a wealth of canine knowledge and further enhance their understanding of breed type. Please reserve the dates of March 16-19, 2017.
