A GUIDE ON HOW TO SCORE YOUR ADDITIONAL BREED APPLICATION


A COMBINATION OF 4 COMPONENTS OUT OF 10 MUST BE ACHIEVED
   (Components used more than once can only be counted as one)
   (Some dates should be within the last five years)


1) OWNERSHIP, HANDLING: (max 1 component)
   Must provide a picture, copy of catalog or certificate with dogs name or number


2) SPECIALTIES: (max 2 components)
   Use identifying symbols (N)-national, (R)-Regional, (S)-Supported
   National – counts as (1)
   Regional or Supported– counts as (1)


3) NATIONAL SPECIALTY STUDY GROUP (NSSG) - (max 1 component)

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES
: (max 3 components for items 4, 5, 6)
Use identifying symbols (S)-Seminars, (I)-Institute, (WKSP) –Workshop

4) SEMINAR- (S) - (max 1 component)
   90 minute classroom presentation; at least 2 dogs to be used during the presentation.

5) INSTITUTES (I) - count as (1) (max 1 com)

    Exceptions:

    ADSJ – (held in PA) –Dr. Penta counts as (2)
   AKC Advance Institutes-counts as (2)
   DJAA - held in conjunction with AKC (Houston, TX) counts as (2)
   WDJAA (Effective, April 2008) counts as (2)
  
6) WORKSHOP (WKSP) – (max 1 component)
   = 60 minutes Hands-on Lab, focused on dogs held in conjunction with a seminar. Must have at least 4 dogs.

7) AKC BREED SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE TEST OR TRIAL (max 1 component) - may include:
   a) One AKC Sanctioned breed specific Earth Dog Test, Field Trial, Herding Trial, Hunting Test and Lure Coursing Trial, held in conjunction with a National Specialty
   b) Three AKC Sanctioned multi-breed Hunting Tests or Earthdog Tests (will need to include breed applied for)
   c) One AKC Sanctioned Performance Trial (Events listed above)


8) JUDGING EXPERIENCE: – (max 1 component)
   (SS)-Sweepstakes, (F)-Futurity, (SM)-Sanctioned Matches, and AKC (SA)-Special Attraction
   ex: Bred–By, Veteran or Puppy groups -
   Must contain breed applying for - 1 entry (breed specific)


9) MENTORING OR TUTORING EXPERIENCE (max 1 component )
   Breed Mentor – a long-term relationship, having numerous experiences in ongoing education in a specific breed.
   Tutor – casual in-depth discussion with a judge/breeder or knowledgeable experienced handler in a particular breed.


10) RINGSIDE OBSERVATIONS (max 1 component)
   A minimum of 3 ringside observations per breed, including 2 with major entries. Ringside Observation forms must be completed and submitted with this application to count as one component. (Forms will not be accepted without comments.)
